Bike Ride

Background

In April 2009 Rugbytots decided to join forces with the NSPCC to raise awareness and stop cruelty to children. At Rugbytots we aim to build confidence in a fun and caring environment, something some unfortunate children have never experienced. Rugbytots is committed to raising awareness as well as funds for a charity very close to our heart. Everyone at Rugbytots is passionate about children having fun and its one of our overall objectives to raise confidence through the enjoyment of our programme. The thought that any human being could be cruel to a child is beyond belief and we will do everything in our power to help innocent children suffering.

As part of our commitment to the charity we give 50p of every new registration and arrange fund raising events. In May 2010, Rugbytots did a London to Paris Bike Ride. This was a hugely successful and enjoyable experience and through doing it, we raised in excess of £50,000 for the Charity. Due to the success of this, we have decided to organize another one in June 2012, again from London to Paris, albeit on a different and slightly more challenging route. Last time The group was made of Rugbytots coaches, parents, franchises and friends of friends. Places will be limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

The Challenge

The Bike Ride will take place over the June bank holiday weekend (1st June - 4th June) and will be run by a company called Expedition Wise, who we have used for previous challenges. They are a hugely professional outfit and will ensure that every aspect of the trip is carried out safely and efficiently. The route distance is 260 miles over the three days. Starting our Journey in Twickenham and travelling down to Portsmouth for an overnight ferry to Le Havre, which will be our starting point of the French Leg of the challenge. How do I register?

The registration is a two part process;

1. Register and pay a deposit to Expedition Wise via their website to secure your place
2. Set up a Just giving page linked to the Rugbytots team page

To book your place and pay the deposit click the “book” button. You will need your Passport Number and Expiry Date.

Scroll down to the link “join the team” and follow instructions. (It is vital you join the team page so the NSPCC can track sponsorship)

Set your individual target as the minimum sponsorship (more if you feel confident) and this will automatically add to the team target.

What Next?

Places are limited so once the ride is full we will write to everyone confirming the event and asking for cycling jersey sizes. Expedition wise will deal directly with you should you have any special requirements for the trip. Please make sure you read all the information including the expected sponsorship levels and the dates it is required by.

All that is left to do is start training and get fundraising!
